I like the way it being minimal, and in a black background. Its like playing with the terminal. Its minimal but very much functional! And best of all --- FREE!
Ive tried every IRC client under the sun for just about every platform, and LimeChat has replaced them all as my favorite. Its minimalist interface doesnt get in the way and it does just enough to be what an IRC client should be. There are a few caveats, one is if you use a client and have it heavily scripted, this probably isnt a good replacement. Its also not a terminal client, so you cant screen it and detach. Chances are if you care about these things you already have a client you can use that does it all (if not, check out IRSSI). I enjoyed this client so much that I immediately purchased the iOS version for my iPhone 3gs, its the first and only IRC client on my phone. Thanks for making both available.
Great IRC client! works great!
This IRC client is great. Works real nice, and it has all the features the average IRC user will need. Might not be the prettiest, but (1) it works the best out of all clients; and (2) you can download themes for it from online.
Use it regularly. Very nice. Straight forward and hasnt failed yet. I give it top rating. Thanks.
The app itself is fine, okay, easy to use, and have no problem. And for those best features, its FREE! Thank you for developing this great app. Now, one little problem though, I cant use double-click directly to open conversation window with a nickname. Please give us the option "Double-click to talk" rather than whois as standard. Most of time I double click a nickname is to open conversation with him/her, not to see his/her information. So, please if you have time, update the next version with this feature. THank you so much
korea Nickname Tab auto typying not support. problem issue~ ex) nickname : hongkildong / hongki<tab> -> hoingkildong (O) hong길동 / hong길<tab> -> hong길동 (O) 홍길동 / 홍<tab> -> (X)
I tried x-chat aqua and colloquy but like this client best.. its simple but has all the features a serious ircer needs.. ssl support, black/white background themes, adjustable font sizes.. autojoining irc servers/channels. and its really pretty
Ive been using various IRC clients since the early 90s, and was worried that switching to a Mac would leave me stranded with a "redheaded step-child" of an app… then I found LimeChat. This is a highly customizable IRC client that allows me to custom fit the look and feel of an app to my liking. With only a handful good IRC apps for OS X, this one in my opinion beats them all! On top of the whole thing, its free! Whats more to want?
I would love an option in the preferences that would let notices bypass the console and appear in the main chat window, so I can hide the console completely. Irssi (and the OS X port, MacIrssi) is capable of doing this with a script, but since there isnt a scripting system for Limechat, I cant write it myself. Id also like to request a simple now playing command for iTunes and/or last.fm. If youre familiar with the IRC game STG (Song Title Game), youll know why. To play, youd have to switch clients which seems silly considering how common this command is. One last thing, the /kb and /kickban commands dont work. To kick and ban somebody from the channel, you would need to /ban and then /kick them which is inconvenient. Also, banning only bans the username instead of their hostmask, so bypassing a ban is a simple matter of switching usernames. Besides these, I have no complaints. Limechat is a great alternative to Colloquy and MacIrssi if you prefer simplicity.
Stable (doesnt crash) with commonly used features (e.g. remembers to rejoin channels). Quite good app for this price.
This is the best IRC ever. Simple, easy and just so light.
Great little app with a very clean interface. It does exactly what I need it to do, and doesnt try to do anything I dont need/want it to do. Excellent for just hopping on IRC, asking a question or finding someone, then hopping right back off.
Simple and easy to setup. Unlike Adium, this supports the Moutain Lion notification center. I also like the themes available.
Simple, Clean irc. Nothing too fancy and not lacking any functionality that I used anyway.
I used to use Colloguy,but Limechat uses much less memory (not to even mention Adium) and simply works. One function missing though: ignore someone
This seems like a pretty basic feature. Dont get me wrong, this is great software, just wish it could remember the nickname I assign to myself in between sessions. On that note, itd be able to keep a list of different nicknames to be able to use.
If you go under server properties, not only can you save usernames for each individual server, you can even save your passwords, which it will automatically enter. Incredibly conveneint, best IRC client Ive ever tried.
I must admit this free client is better than many PAID ones. Its simple uniqe and nice! fun also, actually. Although its missing many features, I noticed it has "DCC Send" when you right click on a nickname but its always highilted and cant actually click it!!?? I tried downloading DCC in other hand and it works great, but sadly, it doesnt support RESUME :(( !! Also wish it had more option in the nicklist menu like, kick/ban, kick ban/reason, give half op and more stuff!! Also I dont get why the defualt theme leaves empty space on the left side of nicks that type in the channels or PMs, wish it was just normal and showed time or whatever, as some people have small displays. I noticed when you view the channel list for the server, topics show the code if it has colors, which is weird if you ask me. When you close the channel list before it fully loaded it starts displaying channels in the stats windows which also is annoying! Overall 3/5 to make it better in the future!! And I appreciate that its FREE!! Thanks a lot Developer. EDIT: cmd+f does not bring up text search anywhere on the app, status window, channel or PM.
